Cogitatio Sonum

about

Second song I wrote for the 2013 5090 project.
Original notes:
It's been a long time since I did a song where each sound was newly synthesized from scratch (minus drums, which got treated from scratch, of course, but I opted for samples rather than synthesizing).
Since I usually have writing sessions where I just do sound design, with no intent to write songs, And I have plenty of patches from those design sessions, I usually use those when writing songs, but for this song, I did all the synth work on the spot.
The first sound is a pad. Square wave along with with 'waveform 5', with envelope modulated FM, going to an envelope modulated bandpass filter, to a (performance control-) lowpass filter, with a mild triangle LFO on the oscillators' pitch.
The same mild triangle LFO modulates the panning on the delay for the next instrument.
The next sound is a 303-esque one. A sawtooth working along with a triangle (that has its pitch modulated by an envelope), with LFO modulated FM, and the same LFO modulating its panning. Going to parallel 3 pole lowpass filters. Two separate LFOs modulate the cutoff on the second filter, and the amp envelope decay.
The third sound is a basic sawtooth chord, monophonic style, with an extremely slow LFO modulating the filter envelope's decay.
The fourth track is the drums, and the only thing of geek-interest here is that the inversion of the previously mentioned extremely slow LFO is modulating the reverb send on the clap.
Lastly, we've got another 303-esque patch doing bass work, a sawtooth backed with a square (one octave lower), and just envelope modulated oscillator phase differentials.
That's the whole song, and it's a huge deal of fun to play with. Rather than sequence it, I just want to play with mutes, solos, and filter frequencies on the pad's and 303's filters. (and that's what I've been doing for the last few hours. :P)
Not to mention it sounds like pure awesomeness. :P
And then I had to stop messing about and actually sequence it. Done, but still it was more fun in raw form. :P
