Etude No. 48 - Friends In Space

by Melody Klein

/

about

I don't know, it's all the fault of my sloppy piano playing. There was some weirdness with the downbeat not fully feeling like the downbeat, so I just leaned into it and made it weirder and weirder, and then I figured it had something to do with space, and then I wrote the lyrics with the usual social responsibility guilt stuff, or something.

lyrics

Do we have friends in space?
Are we alone, the human race?
Is it good or is it bad?
If there are no aliens, none to be afraid?

Is there's no one to judge the harm that we cause?
The world that we burn, how we take no pause?
Or how we consume till nothing remains?
No matter the harm, no matter the pains?

Can we have friends in space?
